Eurosport Events, promoter of the European Rally Championship, has announced that the Junior category will be remodeled from 2017. Firstly, two classes will see the light of day: ERC Junior under 27 (U27), and ERC Junior under 28 (U28).
In the first, the drivers will compete in six events at the wheel of cars meeting R2 regulations and fitted with Pirelli rubber. Only the four best results will be taken into account and the winner will receive a €100 grant to advance to the ERC Junior U000.
In this category, six rounds will be on the program (the four best results being taken into account), for entrants who will race in R5 cars. The champion will obtain an entry as a P2 priority driver on a European round of the WRC 2018 with a WRC car based on the 2016 technical regulations.
