Asian LMS – 31 hired in 2016-2017

The Asian Le Mans TV Shows should count on an expanded starting grid for the 2016-2017 edition. 31 crews have been confirmed by the entry list revealed this Sunday

LM P2 will once again be the premier category of the championship, with four cars officially confirmed. Two Ligier JS P2s for the Algarve Pro Racing team will be pitted against the Oreca 03Rs of the defending champion Race Performance team and Jackie Chan DC Racing. On the latter, we should find Ho-Pin Tung associated with Frenchman Thomas Laurent.

It is in LM P3 that we will find the largest contingent of prototypes with ten cars. Jackie Chan DC Racing will be one of the teams that will field a Ligier JS P3, as will the Spanish structure SPV Racing, Wineurasia, FRD Racing Team, and G-Print by Triple 1 Racing.

The Ginetta, with ARC Bratislava, and ADESS-03 (PS Racing) will also be represented. Only one CN, the PS Racing Ligier JS53, has so far been made official.

15 GT3s and a GT Cup will make up the GT field for the next season. Eight manufacturers will be represented with Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes et Porsche.

The latest models seen in particular in Europe in the Blancpain GT Series, or in the United States in the Pirelli World Challenge or in the GTD category in IMSA Sportscar Championship will be there, with the latest Ferrari 488, BMW M6 and other Mercedes-AMGs.

Team AAI will enter four cars, two McLaren 650S, a Mercedes-AMG and a BMW M6 GT3 and are expected to be one of the big favorites along with Absolute Racing or Clearwater Racing. Team NZ, GT Cup winner in the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup, will enter a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Remember that the various class winners in 2015-2016 received an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans last June. The first round of the saison will be contested at the end of October in Zhuhai, China.
