Asian LMS – 2018-19 schedule revealed

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) has unveiled the calendar for the next Asian season Le Mans Series (Asian LMS). The main change concerns the opening round; disputed at Zhuhai (China) last October, it will now be held in Shanghai (China), a week after the World ChampionshipEndurance (WEC).

The championship will begin End of november and no longer at the end of October, in order to avoid date clashes with other Asian series and to allow teams to participate in the entire competition. The competitors will then perform in Fuji (Japan), Buriram (Thailand) before concluding with a trip to Sepang at the end of February.

The winners of the LM P2 and LM P3 categories will win a place in LM P2 for the 24 2019 Hours of Le Mans (Sarthe), while two tickets in GTE will be reserved for the winners of the GT class.

“Our goal is to create a more attractive calendar and to develop an attractive platform in partnership with the teams. We will have four FIA Grade 1 circuits, the dates slot perfectly in the middle of the WEC Super Season”, explains the Managing Director of Asian LMS, Cyrille Taesch Wahlen. Registrations will be open at the beginning of March.

The 2018-19 Asian LMS calendar:
Round 1 – Shanghai (China), November 23 to 25, 2018
Event 2 – Fuji (Japan), December 7 to 9, 2018
Round 3 – Buriram (Thailand), January 10 to 12, 2019
Round 4 – Sepang (Malaysia), February 22 to 24, 2019
