Asian LMS – A six-hour race in Buriram

The 2017-2018 season of Asian Le Mans TV Shows will offer a major novelty, with the introduction of a six-hour long race, contested on the Thai track of Buriram (January 11-13).

Alongside the four-hour rounds in Zhuhai in China (October 27-29), Fuji in Japan (December 1-3) and the Sepang final in Malaysia (February 2-4), the Buriram round will therefore offer an additional challenge , modeled on the format seen in WEC.

The championship managed by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest confirmed this new feature, alongside several other changes to come. The old LM P2s, which could have been entered until 2019, will still be able to be entered after the arrival of the new prototypes in 2019-2020, as part of the class reserved for Bronze drivers in the Gentlemen Trophy.

The GT category has not been forgotten, since a fourth invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be offered to the best team in an Amateur class which remains under development and if this category were to find sufficient resonance in the Asian Le Mans Series .

Otherwise, the invitation would be transferred to the second best team in the GT category, in which case the best Am crew will receive an invitation to compete in the 2018-2019 Asian Le Mans Series season. Until today, the winners in LM P2 and LM P3 received an invitation to Le Mans in LM P2, and the winner in GT, an entry in GTE Am.

2017/2018 Asian Le Mans Series Calendar:

October 27-29, 2017 – Zhuhai (China) – 4h race
December 1-3, 2017 – Fuji (Japan) – 4h race
January 11-13, 2018 – Buriram (Thailand) – 6h race
February 2-4, 2018 – Sepang (Malaysia) – 4h race
