The 2018-19 Asian Le Mans Series unveils its new regulations

Even though the 2018-19 season of the Asian Le Mans Series will not begin until November in Shanghai (China, November 23-25), registrations for the competition are open. The Asian leaning of the European Le Mans Series is also undergoing some modifications to the eligible cars.

The mix between prototypes and Grand Touring remains relevant but is now extended to GT4 models. The GT class thus accepts the GT3, the GT4, the Audi R8 LMS Cup, the Ferrari F488 Challenge, la Lamborghini Huracan de Super Trofeo et la Porsche 911 Carrera Cup. Une catégorie GTE pourra être ouverte à condition qu’un minimum de cinq GTE participent à la saison complète. Le LM P2 représentera le sommet de la hiérarchie et sera soutenu par le LM P3.

The various winners in the general classification (LM P2 Pro, LM P2 Am, LM P3, GT) will receive an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans (Sarthe) 2019. This entry ticket will allow the winners of the Proto classes to race in LM P2 and the winner of the GT to arrive in France in the GTE Am category.

On the calendar side, the main change concerns the opening round; disputed at Zhuhai (China) last October, it will now be held in Shanghai (China), a week after the World ChampionshipEndurance (WEC).

The championship will begin End of november and no longer at the end of October, in order to avoid date clashes with other Asian series and to allow teams to participate in the entire competition. The competitors will then perform in Fuji (Japan), Buriram (Thailand) before concluding with a trip to Sepang at the end of February.

Asian Le Mans Series 2018-19 Calendar:

Round 1 – Shanghai (China), November 23 to 25, 2018
Event 2 – Fuji (Japan), December 7 to 9, 2018
Round 3 – Buriram (Thailand), January 10 to 12, 2019
Round 4 – Sepang (Malaysia), February 22 to 24, 2019
