After having had to give up on China, Japan and even Thailand, the promoters of Asian Le Mans Series had the good idea of offering a tight season of four races in two weeks, on the same circuit: the Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi.
But the evolution of the pandemic and the new travel restrictions have forced Cyrille Taesch-Wahlen's teams to once again review their program.
This will be even more condensed than expected, with four races in one week… but on two different circuits. If the two final rounds, scheduled for Abu Dhabi on February 19 and 20, are indeed maintained, the first two are postponed by a week and relocated to the Dubai Autodrome. Two events now planned for February 13 and 14.
A change which is explained by the fact that entry into Abu Dhabi is now synonymous with quarantine, unless you have been in a neighboring country for 10 days and present a negative PCR test less than 72 hours old upon arrival on the territory. What moving to Dubai makes possible.
The flexibility of the organizers, partners and competitors is to be welcomed and rewarded by a growing entry list of 38 competitors, including seven LM P2s, ten LM P3s and 21 GTs.
