Victory for Carlin in Buriram, title for G-Drive

The duel for the title and the invitation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans promised to be animated on the 4 Hours of Buriram, final of the 2019-2020 Asian Le Mans Series.

We had to wait until the start of the last half hour to see Ben Barnicoat (Carlin – Dallara P217 n°45) take the advantage over Roman Rusinov (G-Drive Racing – Aurus 01 n°26), after a great fight between the two pilots.

The final round of pit stops will not change the order of the hierarchy and Carlin with crew Ben Barnicoat – Harry Tincknell – Jack Manchester takes Thai victory, however insufficient to pocket the Asian crown goes to the trio Roman Rusinov – Leonard Hoogenboom – James French.

G-Drive also took the opportunity to win the invitation for the double round of the clock in Sarthe next June. The LM P2 podium is completed at this Buriram event by the No. 07 Oreca 96 – K2 Uchino Racing of Shaun Thong and Haruki Kurosawa, who scored their first podium in the category.

Rick Ware Racing has one last success in LM P2 Am with the No. 2 Ligier JS P25 of Guy Cosmo – Anthony Lazzaro – Phillippe Mulacek. On the other hand, the title was already acquired for the No. 52 of Cody Ware – Gustas Grinbergas.

In LM P3, Villorba Corse claimed its first victory of the year with the No. 3 Ligier JS P12 of David Fumanelli Alessandro Bressan – Andreas Laskaratos. The latter are ahead of the No. 30 Norma M2 – Nielsen Racing of Tony Wells and Colin Noble, a second place which offers the LM P3 title to the duo.

Wells and Noble notably benefited from the setbacks of Martin Hippe and Nigel Moore (Ligier JS P3 n°13 – Inter Europol), leaders in the standings before the race, and forced to stop on the track causing a Full Course Yellow. If the No. 13 was able to return to its garage, the damage was done.

Graff Racing, whose No. 30 Norma M9 of Eric Trouillet – Sébastien Page – David Droux was quickly eliminated after going off the track, consoles itself with the 3rd place this Sunday of the No. 8 of Matthias Kaiser – Neale Muston .

In GT, Ferrari once again dominated the race, with a clean victory for the 488 GT3 n°27 – HubAuto Corsa of Tim Slade – Marcos Gomes – Liam Talbot, two laps ahead of the 488 GT3 n°7 – CarGuy Racing of Como Ledogar – Takeshi Kimura – Mikkel Jensen, penalized with a drive-through for contact.

HubAuto Corsa also takes the title in the class and the invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Thai podium is completed by another Ferrari 488 GT3, the No. 51 – Spirit of Race by Francesco Piovanetti – Oswaldo Negri Jr – Daniel Serra.
