Supported by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, this championship will feature five rounds between China and Malaysia for its first edition.

The FRD LM P3 Series launched in 2017

The FRD LM P3 Series will complete the offer for Asian teams on the prototype event scene from 2017. Alongside the Asian Le Mans Series, this new championship will feature cars meeting LM P3 regulations over a program of five rounds contested in China and Malaysia.

The series will begin on May 14 in Shanghai before heading to Zhejiang in June. The Sepang event in Malaysia will be contested on July 23. A second race in Shanghai in August and the Zhuhai route in September will complete the calendar.

The weekends will be structured according to the following format: two free practice sessions and qualifying on Saturday before a 60-minute race on Sunday. Each team will field two cars, in which pairs consisting of a Chinese driver and a professional international driver.

To attract teams, first-class rewards will be introduced, with the provision of a Ligier JS P2 and an entry offered for the 2017 – 2018 Asian Le Mans Series season. The second-placed team will be allocated a Ligier JS P3 to compete in the Asian Le Mans Series.

Additionally, in the event that the FRD LM P3 Series champion wins the 2017-2018 edition of the Asian Le Mans Series, an entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a Ligier JS P2 will be offered, as will operating costs.

With an international driver and a Chinese driver will ensure these events have the best quality in Asia. With the support of the ACO, the opportunities for teams and drivers are exceptional, and could allow them to race against the best at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. »

Four of the most prominent teams in Asia, KCMG, Eurasia Motorsport, S&D Motorsports and Craft-Bamboo Racing have already confirmed their presence.
