How many Cadillacs will we see in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023? If only one is hired for the WEC For next season, some rumors point to a possible armada coming from Detroit (Michigan) to Sarthe for the Centenary. To that of the world championship could thus be added the three planned in IMSA.

Race against time before Daytona

“You must be invited by the ACO to come to Le Mans, responded Laura Wontrop Klauser, director of sports activities at General Motors, on this subject during a press conference. If you are registered for the whole season, you are guaranteed to participate in Le Mans because it is part of the season, so we will have at least one. The rest we have to wait and work with the ACO. It will depend on what they are willing to do with us. We would like to see as many cars as possible there. It will all come down to what is written on the invitation. »

Currently, the priority at Cadillac is to present three at the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 26-29), their announced debut in competition. “With time running out between now and January, we're going to work on what we have and try to come up with the best we can within the constraints we're working within. The more cars you add, the less easy it becomes. This also means that your supply of spare parts will be a little less, but our goal is to be there as a threesome. » Despite everything, Laura Wontrop Klauser was reassuring on this subject.

It is once the preparation schedule for the Florida classic has been met that Cadillac will look at that of the WEC. “We are prioritizing preparation for Daytona, then we will look at the WEC and the unique features that the championship circuits will present. » This could result in tests on the Old Continent. “We would like to do some tests in Europe, confirms Laura Wontrop Klauser. We need to see when we can do it and on what tracks. Freight back and forth is also a long process at the moment. So it's a question of what we can do with the limited time we have. »

At the moment, the only GM crew guaranteed to show up at the Le Mans double clock next year is the one made up of Alex Lynn, Earl Bamber and Richard Westbrook, but it would be surprising not to see at least the Cadillac V-LMDh with Sébastian Bourdais at Le Mans for the Centenary.
