One of the surprises of 2022 will not return for a second consecutive campaign in Asian Le Mans Series. Seen last year behind the wheel of one of the two McLaren 720S GT3 from Garage 59, James Vowles will not be able to be there in the Middle East this year.
The timing ultimately seems too tight for the Englishman to be able to go to Dubai (February 11 and 12) and Abu Dhabi (February 18 and 19) who is in fact expected in Bahrain on the 23rd for the pre-season tests of F1.. Indeed, James Vowles was recently named Williams team principal, a position that arguably requires more obligations compared to that of chief strategist he had at Mercedes since he is now placed at the very top of the operational organization chart of the team Whole grained.
It is therefore without James Vowles that Garage 59 will have to do for this 11e edition of the ALMS. Still present with two McLaren 702S GT3s, the English team has only retained two drivers out of the six entered last year: Alexander West and Marvin Kirchhöfer. The Swede and the German will be associated with Benjamin Goethe on the No. 88. Rob Bell, Nick Halstead and Louis Prette will take turns on the No. 59.
It feels like it's time to go racing again!
