The General Court of the European Union announced this Wednesday that it had lifted the sanctions aimed at Nikita mazepin since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The former pilot Haas en Formula 1 was in fact targeted by European Union sanctions, partially lifted after an order in March 2023. The sanctions came from the link of Nikita mazepin with his father Dmitry, owner and CEO of chemical manufacturer Uralchem.

In its decision, the General Court of the EU explains that « L'association between M. Nikita mazepin et consist of father n'is nothing established d'un point de view economic ou capitalistic ou by l'existence d'interests common the binder. Maintenance acts are therefore based, de facto, on family ties alone, which is not sufficient. »

Haas driver in Formula 1 in 2021, Nikita Mazepin lost his wheel a few days before the start of the 2022 season, due to these sanctions, the team having severed its partnership with the company Uralkali, which was its main sponsor. Mazepin returns to the wheel in 2023 in the Asian championship Le Mans Series, with 99 Racing. His team came first in the championship before the last round of the 2024 championship, where Nikita Mazepin was unable to compete due to illness.

The Russian pilot also spoke in a press release, following the General Court's decision: « I am extremely encouraged by today's judgment and grateful to the European Court for judging my case fairly. This is certainly a crucial step. »
