AF Corse wins the LMS at Silverstone

AF Corse already sees itself winning the GTE Pro title while the LMS calendar offers a final meeting on September 25 in Portugal with the 6 Hours of Estoril. Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella sign with the Ferrari 458 Italia n°51 its second victory of the year after a first success at the 1000km of Spa-Francorchamps. The Italian crew had a very good race, moving up from eighth position.

Gianmaria Bruni, winner of the GT2 category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2008 with a Risi Competizione F430, is delighted to celebrate his first LMS title with the AF Corse team. “It’s an immense joy to win the Le Mans Series”, comments the Italian. “We worked hard with the team to improve on our eighth place on the grid. We achieved it, we wanted to get this victory after having experienced such a difficult race. This year is absolutely magnificent. »

His teammate Giancarlo Fisichella, for his part, would like to highlight the perfect work of his team, which did not miss a single pit stop for the F458. “First place in the Championship after the Silverstone race is the result of fantastic work from the mechanics, engineers and the rest of the team”, insists the former pilot of F1. “The car was fast, the pit stops executed perfectly and everything worked according to plan. Winning this Championship in my second year of GT competition is a superb satisfaction. »
