Five races on the Larbre Compétition program

After having seen his request for authorization to race in GTE Am rejected by the organizers WEC with the new Corvette C7.R, Jack Leconte decided to take on a new challenge, by entering his Larbre Compétition team in LM P2. A great first for this entity which has been a reference in GT since its beginnings 25 years ago. For this new challenge, the choice was then made to enter a Morgan-Judd designed by Onroak Automotive in the European Le Mans Series, while requesting a request for an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 14-15). Alas, curiously, the French prototype sporting the number 50 is only the first LM P reserve. Its presence in Sarthe in mid-June is therefore in no way assured for the moment.

“Unfortunately, we have been placed on the list of alternates for Le Mans, a decision which completely overshadows our loyalty and our brilliant record in all the championships organized by the ACO, laments boss Jack Leconte. LMES (later became LMS then ELMS. Editor’s note), ILMC, Asian Le Mans Series, American Le Mans Series, WEC, we have raced in all these categories and started the 20 Hours of Le Mans 24 times! In addition, we have won each of the aforementioned championships on one or more occasions. No other team can say the same. After this decision, we sincerely thought about stopping our involvement in endurance. Jacques, who we will have the pleasure of seeing driving this season on the No. 50 (in ELMS in particular. Editor’s note), then gave us the motivation and resources necessary to move forward. We will now do everything we can to master all the subtleties of the Morgan LM P2 as quickly as possible after having taken full advantage of the ELMS Prologue (Tuesday and Wednesday. Editor’s note). For this first season in Sport-Prototypes, our main goal is to accumulate as many kilometers as possible to acclimatize ourselves perfectly. We will thus be ready to carry out a complete program in the World Championship.Endurance FIA in 2015.”

A World Championship in which the Vigeant team should even make a few appearances this year, since it is planned to enter the Morgan n°50 in the five rounds contested after Le Mans, namely those organized on the circuits of Austin, Fuji, Shanghai, Bahrain and Sao Paulo. There too, the Japanese Keiko Ihara will be requisitioned. “I am delighted to join Larbre Compétition for the 2014 season, admits the latter. I sincerely hope that we will get the green light for Le Mans because I am aiming for an excellent result there. The last two seasons I have participated in the WEC and even came close to the podium last year. In 2014, I would like to finally achieve this, particularly during the Fuji meeting. (which will be his home race. Editor’s note) »

The first racing appearance of the Morgan-Judd from the Larbre Compétition team is scheduled for the 4 Hours of Silverstone (Great Britain), on Saturday April 19, during the opening round of the European Le Le Mans Series. Until then, the French team will keep its fingers crossed to see its car gain a starting place on the entry list for the 82nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
