ELMS – Gommendy continues with Thiriet by TDS Racing

Thiriet by TDS Racing will keep the same crew in 2015 with Tristan Gommendy who will still evolve alongside Pierre Thiriet and Ludovic Badey. The French team has put aside the Ligier JS P2 in favor of the new Oreca 05 in order to aim for victory 24 Hours of Le Mans (Sarthe) on June 13 and 14 and the title in ELMS.

“I have assumed this role as a Platinum driver and I hope to once again give satisfaction to the team”, commented the 2002 French champion of F3. “I haven’t seen the Oreca 05 yet but feedback from engineers is very positive. The manufacturer does not have the culture of saying anything and their know-how no longer needs to be demonstrated. I'm enthusiastic: starting from scratch with a new car is exciting. »

Xavier Combet, the co-founder of Thiriet by TDS Racing, is certain to have made the right choice by retaining Tristan Gommendy. “We started a collaboration with Tristan in 2014 which was very positive. I would simply quote his pole at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the fact that he broke the lap record in qualifying. I also remember his astonishing ability to develop a vehicle and his very “team spirit” state of mind. For me, it was natural and important to do everything possible to ensure that Tristan was with us in 2015.”

The Thiriet by TDS Racing took second place in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year behind Jota Sport's Zytek. The French team finished 7th in the ELMS. The European season will begin on March 23 and 24 with the official tests carried out at Paul-Ricard (Var).
