ELMS – Mailleux gives way to Klien at Morand Racing

Morand Racing took advantage of Franck Mailleux's performances to secure two podiums at Silverstone and Red Bull Ring and move up to fifth position in the Teams Championship. If the Frenchman were to support Natacha Gachnang for the last two events of the season at the Hungaroring (September 14) and Paul Ricard (September 28), the French driver will have to give way to Christian Klien. The 28-year-old Malouin, who this year notably won fifth place in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2, suffers from a lack of finances which prevents him from finishing his season with the Swiss team.

“I am really disappointed not to be able to participate in the last races of the?ELMS, especially after our recent podiums in Imola and Austria as well as our superb performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans”, underlines Franck Mailleux. ?I finalized my budget for the first part of the season and I was convinced that I would be able to raise the rest for the last two events. Unfortunately, this was not the case and I was therefore forced to shorten my season. It's a shame because I felt like I had performed well and had good results and I felt comfortable within the Morand Racing team. I would like to thank the whole team for their support this season and for sharing some great podiums together. I wish them the best as well as my teammate Natacha for the rest of this season. For my part, I am ready for other opportunities to put my experience to good use. »
