ELMS – Pegasus Racing discovering its Morgan

Pegasus Racing carried out its first test session with the Morgan on February 4 on the Magny-Cours circuit. The team set out to meet Onroak Automotive engineers at the start of the year at Le Mans before assembly of the LMP2 was completed at the end of last month. It was Julien Schell who took the wheel to do the first laps. “I would first like to congratulate and thank the people at Onroak Automotive, starting with Philippe Dumas and his technical team”, commented the reigning Speed Euro Series champion. “Despite a busy schedule, commitments were kept and, together, we were able to successfully complete this first test. The objective was not to challenge the clock but to discover the car. We reviewed it in the morning, while the track dried, before taking advantage of ideal conditions in the afternoon for the first runs. I immediately felt confident and had a lot of fun behind the wheel. »

The tricolor team, which filed a request for entry in ELMS and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is now preparing to carry out a new test session at the end of the week in Hockenheim. Julien Schell will share the wheel with Niki Leutwiler with whom he will contest his season after winning their Speed Euro Series title together in a Ligier JS53. But Pegasus Racing will also take the opportunity to test other drivers likely to complete the crew, the events of theELMS having been extended by one hour. “We look forward to the verdict on February 13”, admits Julien Schell. “We will then know the list of cars invited by the ACO Selection Committee for the next 24 Hours of Le Mans. I am confident because we have put together a package capable of winning. Our Morgan-Nissan equipped with Dunlop tires is identical to the car that won the LMP2 category at Le Mans and in WEC (the No. 35 of Oak Racing of Bertrand Baguette, Martin Plowman and Rodolfo Gonzalez). It is equipped with the developments adopted by Oak Racing at the end of 2013. It is a successful car that has proven itself. We will also be able to draw on our experience in endurance, which has already resulted in several titles, notably that of LMS in 2011 with four victories and a second place in five races in the FLM category. »
