The Norma M30 on track in January

Alongside the Ligier JS P3, ADESS-03, or other Ginettas meeting LM P3 regulations, Norma Auto Concept is preparing to put its brand new M30 on the track. Norbert Santos’ entity has entered the final phase of the construction of the first chassis.

Ten examples will initially leave workshops in the South-West of France, before shipping to the first customers. A schedule which, however, was slightly shifted from the initial schedule.

“It will finally be during January, underlines Norbert Santos. We have had to deal with regulatory changes related to pilot safety. This was not planned and it forced us to repeat a whole series of calculations over several weeks. Today, we are very happy with the results we obtain in simulation.

The indicators are all green. Not only will the M30 be the only LMP3 on the market to meet the new safety standards imposed on the new LMP2s, but it will also be even more advanced. This “delay” has strengthened our determination to put on the track a car that we want to be immediately reliable and of course very efficient.

It will. The mobilization of staff but also of technical partners who participated in the design of the P3 is exceptional. The M30 will be the fruit of this considerable work. »

The boss of the manufacturer from Saint-Pé de Bigorre (Pyrénées Atlantiques) also confirms that demand seems to be there, on all continents. “Today, I can tell you that we will not be able to supply more than fifteen M30s before the start of the European season even though demand is much higher.

It is also a choice that we imposed on ourselves. In no way did we want to sacrifice the quality of the finished product for quantity. Norma has never favored volume over performance. Certainly this may cause us to lose some sales, only in the short term, but, over the last 30 years, I think that this operating choice has proven us right.

I can simply add that beyond what has already been announced, we have also sold M30s to the United States and to other teams in Europe. In the last 10 days alone, three more established European teams have placed orders. And advanced discussions are underway with others. Including in Asia. »
