LMS: Olivier Pla looks back on his race

3rd on the starting grid, the Zytek of Quifel-ASM, driven by Miguel Amaral and Olivier Pla, lost all hope of victory from the first lap and its chaotic start. “My engineer warned me that the safety car was going to stay one more lap, explains the Toulouse resident. Despite everything, the lights turned green and several drivers accelerated. Two of them hit me and damaged the rear of the car. The damage to the rear caused the puncture and I had to return to the pits for the team to change the shoes and the rear cover. We lost ten laps. It's terribly frustrating to see your chances ruined for such a reason. »

In the end, Quifel-ASM finished 8th and 4th in LMP1. Enough to bring back valuable points. “We cannot be satisfied with the way the event went: we had the potential to achieve a great performance, the 2nd fastest lap in the race proves it. Miguel, who is a gentleman driver, kept a very good pace against the pros. This is encouraging for the future. At Spa (next appearance of the Quifel-ASM Team), the comparison with the competitors of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, such as OAK Racing and again Rebellion Racing will be interesting. »

Olivier Pla will return to the track this weekend for the start of the GT Tour season on the Lédenon circuit. Associated with Gabriel Balthazard, he will pilot a Ferrari F458 GT3 fielded by Team Sofrev-ASP.
