Marc VDS Racing announces its withdrawal from motorsport

Marc VDS Racing Team will leave the motorsport scene after the final of theELMS contested on October 18 in Estoril (Portugal) where he entered a BMW Z4 in GTE with Andy Priaulx, Henry Hassid and Jesse Krohn who occupied second place in the Championship, 19 points behind the Rizzoli-Laursen-Mac team from Formula Racing.

Marc van der Straten, the owner of the 2013 champion Blancpain team Endurance Series in the Pro Cup and victorious in the last 24 Hours of Spa with Paltalla-Luhr-Catsburg, justified this decision on the grounds that “the GT3 class is expensive, but it costs even more when people in charge of managing the team commit financial failings to the point of jeopardizing the viability of the company."

« My passion for car racing is gone », says Marc van der Straten. “Employees have betrayed my trust and the family spirit of our team. I cannot accept it. At 67, I no longer have time to embarrass myself with disrespectful behavior towards the moral principles to which I am attached. I am tired of the lack of professionalism of certain people whom I made the mistake of placing in key positions. I am tired of those who have had no other objective than to profit at the risk of jeopardizing our company, even leading it to bankruptcy. This is why I decided today to pull back the curtain and eliminate Belgian Racing from motor racing. »

“Obviously, I don't forget our great victory at the 24 Hours of Spa this season with the BMW Z4, but again, How can I accept that today someone is trying to force me to compete in the entire championship in order to have the right to compete in this single event? The one who will tell me what to do at home, in Belgium, well he?s not yet born! », Warned Marc van der Straten.

Marc VDS Racing Team will continue to live through the Moto GP and Moto2.
