It is a Pro-Am crew which will start this Sunday in pole position for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet. Mathias Beche took advantage of heavy traffic and a final red flag interrupting several attempts, notably that of Jack Aitken (Racing Team Turkey), to set the best time in this first qualifying session of the season. ELMS.

“I was unlucky on my first attempt because I got stuck in traffic, says the native of Geneva. I pushed on my second lap, but it wasn't expected to be so fast. It's very moving, because I've known the people on this team for 11 years. They're like family, so it's important for me to give them this result. »

A great performance for a driver who has only participated in two races in LM P2 over the last two years: the 8 Hours of Portimão with Realteam Racing in 2021 and the 1000 Miles of Sebring with ARC Bratislava this season.“I think this is the highest level I have ever seen in LM P2, judge Mathias Beche. I was out of this category for two years and I'm very happy to have delivered this performance for my comeback, when it counts. We weren't able to show our pace in Free Practice due to various problems, so no one was expecting us. »

A surprise result, but the pole sitter is aware that the Pro-Am status will not allow them to play the leading roles in the race: “We're going to have to rethink who's going to start. It should have been Philippe (Cimadomo. Editor's note), but we will discuss with the team. The objective is to put it in good conditions. At the moment, we are not here to play up front. » The French team can already savor this Saturday's feat.
