Road to Le Mans-C1: United Autosports wins

Norma had dominated qualifying earlier in the day with the double pole position won by DKR Engineering, but it was a Ligier JS P3 which won this Thursday afternoon at Le Mans during the first race of the Road to Le Mans in the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

Starting from pole, Alexander Toril lost the lead for a time to Peter Kox (No. 3 Kox Racing Ligier JS P48) before regaining his position before the end of the first lap. Until the driver changes, the hierarchy at the top of the ranking will not change.

However, after the pit stops, Sean Rayhall, perfect relay for John Falb in the No. 3 United Autosports Ligier JS P2, got the better of Romano Ricci (No. 3 Ligier JS P18 – Muller Racing) to win under the checkered flag. The podium is completed by Martin Rich (Ligier JS P3 n°14 – RLR Msport), associated with Alex Kapadia. Nathan Bihel, associated with Laurent Millara in the No. 3 Muller Racing Ligier JS P53 and John Farano, riding in the No. 3 RLR Msport Ligier JS P87 with Marten Dons, complete the top 5.

In GT3, the final victory went to theAston Martin Vantage n°97 TF Sport of Al-Harthy – Jackson, who took advantage of the penalty imposed on the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°95 Spirit of Race from the Ulrich – Mediani duo, for a pit stop that was too short. Mowle and Keen (Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°7) finally finished in second place ahead of the Ferrari 95 which saved the podium.
