A sprint trophy with the LM P3 in France in 2017

Its desire to create a sprint series in France should be realized in France from 2017. The Sprint Series, organized via an economic interest group comprising five companies involved in motorsport in France, is on track for the next season, as the boss of the Mitjet Series told us.

“With the end of the GT Tour, we had to create a series that could accommodate affordable categories for drivers, Jean-Philippe Dayraut explained to us. We want this series to be professional in its technical and sporting regulations, while maintaining a friendly and popular spirit with activities present both on the track and in the paddock. »

This series focused on races in sprint format will bring together the French Supertourism championship, the Mitjet 2L, core activity of the former French Supertourism champion for several seasons, but, the main novelty will welcome the CN and LM P3 prototypes. The latter had started in France via the GT Tour, before the championship was stopped by Oreca after the Nogaro episode and a starting grid that was too sparse.

“The LM P3 label belongs to the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, and an exclusive contract has been entrusted to us to operate them in France in a sprint version. » adds Dayraut, who has not yet revealed the definitive schedule for this series, even if a pre-version exists with seven rounds on the program including a start at Lédenon at the end of April and a conclusion scheduled at Nogaro at the end of October, and two meetings outside France at Motorland in Aragon and at Spa in Belgium.

More information on this series can be found in AUTO issue 2086hebdo, available now in digital version and on newsstands.
