Alexey Lukyanuk triumphs at Rally di Roma Capitale

Victorious this Sunday at the end of the Rally of Rome Capital, first test counting for the European Rally Championship ERC 2020, Alexey Lukyanuk (Citroën C3 R5) will have built its success during the first day on Saturday.

Author of a perfect stage with six best times on the six special stages, the Russian, 2018 European champion, had built up a solid lead over Giandomenico Basso (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5). A mattress which will have been more than sufficient to counter the comeback attempts of the winner of the Rally di Roma Capitale last year.

The latter fails at 16″1 at the end of the fifteen SS, and precedes the Swede Oliver Solberg on the podium, who places his Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 in 3rd place for his real debut on asphalt.

Craig Breen (Hyundai i20 R5) achève l’épreuve en quatrième position, non sans avoir ferraillé dur ce dimanche avec Simone Tempestini (Skoda Fabia R5), 1″3 séparant les deux pilotes à l’arrivée. Le top 10 est complété par Efren Llaerna (Citroën C3 R5), Grégoire Munster (Hyundai i20 R5), Filip Mares (Skoda Fabia Rally 2 Evo), Rudy Michelini (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) et Emil Lindholm (Skoda Fabia Rally 2 Evo).

The battle for ERC3 saw victory for Ken Torn (Ford Fiesta Rally 4), after Pedro Antunes (Peugeot 208 Rally4) in the final special.

Dani Sordo (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) won the Rally Stars event, ahead of Pierre-Louis Loubet (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) and Pedro (Ford Fiesta WRC).
