Andreas Mikkelsen confident after Sanremo

Andreas Mikkelsen expected to be in trouble at Rally of Sanremo, where many drivers had good experience of this event. The Norwegian distinguished himself by leading the rally on several occasions until he failed 1??5 behind. Thierry Neuville (Peugeot ) on the finish line.

If the Skoda driver may be disappointed to have missed victory by such a small margin, he nevertheless remains satisfied with his performance. “I am very happy, I thought that this rally was perhaps going to be one of my weakest performances of the season because it is the same stages every year and the other drivers know the roads very well”, explains Andraes Mikkelsen. “Some sections were very technical and I didn't expect to come here and compete for victory with Freddy (Loix), Thierry (Neuville) and Bryan (Bouffier). It?s much more than I expected. »

Andreas Mikkelsen's seven best results of the season place him 54 points behind leader Jan Kopecky (Skoda). Nevertheless, the Norwegian is confident for the last two rallies of the season, notably in Cyprus where the points will be doubled. “We have some good events coming up, particularly in Scotland. We were pretty quick last year and it's a national event for Skoda UK. Cyprus will offer double points and I achieved a good result there last year on the Golden Stage Rally. Everything remains possible. »
