ERC – Kopecky duels against Lukyanuk

Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5) was able to regain the lead of the Barum Rally from Alexey Lukyanuk (Ford Fiesta R5) in the last special of the first stage, but his lead over the Russian is only half a second at the end of the day. The two leading drivers exchanged scratch points throughout the stage and seem to want to continue their duel tomorrow.

Bryan Bouffier (DS 3 R5) is also fighting for a place on the podium. The Frenchman is in third position but he has less than eight seconds ahead of Tomas Kostka (Fabia R5) after having had a cautious start to the day due to his poor position on the road.

Jaromir Tarabus (Fabia R5) completes the provisional top five after regaining the advantage over Jan Cerny (Fabia R5) by less than two seconds.

Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Fiesta R5) was running in third position until the Pole was forced to retire on the track following SS4 due to an engine problem.

The crews will still have to cover more than a hundred timed kilometers spread over six special stages before reaching the finish of the Czech event.
