Guy Wilks injured in the lower back

Following his exit from the road in the first special stage of the day, Guy Wilks complained of pain in his lower back. Transferred to Oristano hospital, he was examined and x-rays revealed a fracture of lumbar vertebrae 1 and 2. Guy Wilks is expected to remain in hospital throughout the weekend before being repatriated to Great Britain Monday, in order to continue his convalescence at home, if his condition allows him to travel.

« We had a good position on the road, confided Guy Wilks. So we attacked hard. We came to a left turn and a mistake in our notes caused us to go off the road at full speed. »

« I'm very annoyed to be in a hospital bed instead of in the stages, continues the Briton. Obviously, it?s very frustrating to be injured and no longer be able to ride because I missed an opportunity and I know it. I'm really disappointed for the team and for Skoda UK. »
