Lukyanuk first leader at the Azores Rally

The 2019 European Rally Championship season kicks off (ERC) was given on Thursday March 21 in the Azores Islands (Portugal). The outgoing champion of the discipline Alexey Lukyanuk (Citroën) won the three stages contested at the end of the day but did not crush the debates.

The driver of the French team Saintéloc Racing only has 3”1 ahead of his direct pursuer, Pierre-Louis Loubet (Hyundai). The 2C Compétition team member scared himself by hitting the side of the road during SS1 but suffered no damage.

Alexey Lukyanuk also experienced an alert: the winner of the 2018 edition had to deal with a faulty dashboard in the final timed sector on Thursday. The Portuguese Ricardo Moura (Skoda) holds third provisional position, 8” behind the Russian leader.

In the ERC3 category, the rookie Yohan rossel (Peugeot ), member of the Peugeot Rally Academy, is in fourth place, 10” from the lead occupied by Pedro Antunes (Peugeot). Her teammate Catie Munnings (Peugeot) encountered clutch problems and is only 14th.
