Meeke excluded from Rally Scotland

Kris Meeke's victory over the Rally of Scotland is called into question after the decision of the commissioners to exclude the Northern Irishman because of a problem with his front cradle. If he crossed the finish line in the lead after having battled for a long time with Guy Wilks (Skoda Fabia S2000), Meeke therefore sees success in the last round of the IRC season slipping away from him.

As soon as the rally finished on Saturday evening, the marshals discovered that the weight of the front subframe was outside the authorized tolerance threshold. The commissioners then indicated that the piece would be weighed again at the Government Weighing and Measuring Office.

The deliberation was delivered on Thursday. “ Peugeot UK and Peugeot Sport admitted a lack of control in the design of the cradle. The commissioners also recognized that there was no fraudulent intention on the part of the manufacturer ", Reads the statement.

« The stewards decided to exclude competitor number 1 (Kris Meeke, editor's note) from the event in accordance with article 158 of the FIA International Sporting Code »

This decision ultimately suited Guy Wilks who won the Scottish Rally ahead of Alister McRae (Proton Satria Neo S2000) and Jonathan Greer (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX).
