Ogier strengthens Peugeot in Sardinia

Peugeot , who has won the last three editions of the IRC, is in a more difficult position this year. Kris Meeke (Peugeot 207 S2000) certainly won Rally Curitiba (Brazil) but scored no points at the end of the Monte-Carlo and Argentina Rallies. The 2009 champion is only fourth in the general classification of the discipline and finds himself ten points behind the first Skoda driver, Guy Wilks, and seventeen points behind the leader, Juho Hänninen. In the manufacturers' ranking, the situation is even more complicated, Skoda being able to count on a homogeneous and complementary trio, where Kris Meeke is the only Peugeot driver who can compete with them over an entire season.

Therefore, Peugeot expects the arrival of Sébastien Ogier that it allows us to replace the builder with the Lion at the top of the poster. “ For the drivers' title, I'm not very worried, says Olivier Quesnel, director of Peugeot Sport, because I'm sure Kris Meeke can still do it. The Peugeot is still a good car and performs well. But for the constructors' title, Kris is a little alone, because Bruno Magalhaes and Thierry Neuville (Peugeot drivers) are inexperienced in IRC. So I have no problem asking Sébastien Ogier to come and help Peugeot obtain the title. »

Le Rally of Sardinia, fifth round of the 2010 IRC, begins this Friday evening with a super special in Cagliari. Twelve special stages are then scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, for a total of thirteen special stages and 218 kilometers.
