Peugeot counts on Wilks

Guy Wilks, former Proton and Skoda driver in IRC, is now in the colors of Peugeot UK. Successor to Kris Meeke, he will have to allow the brand to return to the IRC title, while the 2010 season was dominated by Skoda and Juho Hänninen. Peugeot proved it this weekend by asking Stéphane Sarrazin, who is not playing in the championship, to take a penalty to allow the Briton to get on the podium.

“But it wasn’t my decision,” he replied. No driver wants to gain places like that. But as they say, “c’est la vie” (pronounced in French). It was my first time in this car and with the team, so I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders. Especially when driving for a manufacturer like Peugeot on the Rally Monte Carlo. It wasn't easy to change cars and teams, to see how the car worked and if it suited me. But I was good, Peugeot did a very good job. »

Third in Monte-Carlo, Guy Wilks can set out in pursuit of the title in order to follow in the footsteps of Kris Meeke and restore Peugeot's image. However, he will have to count on tough competition, coming from Skoda but also from? from Peugeot. Indeed, at the end of the event, Olivier Quesnel (Peugeot Sport director) declared that Bryan Bouffier, winner in the principality, should compete in the IRC season. Triple Champion of Poland and recent Champion of France, the Diois would see a new challenge present itself before him.
