Sardinia: Ogier and Wilks stop

Sébastien Ogier, after his first victory in WRC when Rally of Portugal, did not experience the same success in Sardinia. First the victim of a puncture, the Gapençais then had to stop in SS2 due to engine problems. While Peugeot was counting on its young prodigy to get back on Skoda in the manufacturers' ranking, its mission was quickly aborted.

The disappointment is the same in the case of Skoda because, even if Jan Kopecky took the lead in SS2 (SS1 had been canceled), Guy Wilks went off the road in this first timed sector. The very slippery surface immediately presented a major challenge to the drivers.

At the end of SS2, Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia S2000) leads ahead of Kris Meeke (Peugeot S2000), Paolo Andreucci (Peugeot 207 S2000) and Juho Hänninen (Skoda Fabia S2000). Five stages are still on the program this Saturday.
