Honda announces its Super GT drivers for 2022

Honda will continue to field five Honda NSX-GTs, and four of the five drivers will remain unchanged for the 2021 season. Reigning Super Formula champion Tomoki Nojiri and Nirei Fukuzumi will continue to race for Autobacs Racing Team Aguri (ARTA), and Team Kunimitsu will retain the 2020 team, consisting of Naoki Yamamoto and Tadasuke Makino. The team Red Bull Mugen will also retain its young team made up of Ukyo Sasahara and Toshiki Oyu, while Modulo Nakajima Racing will still rely on Takuya Izawa and Hiroki Otsu.

Nobuharu Matsushita has joined Honda as a full factory driver, having made his GT500 debut with Nissan and Team Impul. Matsushita, former pilot of Formula 2 at Carlin, will join Astemo Real Racing alongside the team's main driver, Koudai Tsukakoshi.

Honda will also support at least two customer teams in GT300, with the NSX GT3 Evo. The Autobacs Racing Team Aguri GT300 team has a brand new driver line-up for the 2022 season: 300 GT2013 champion Hideki Mutoh, as well as youngster Iori Kimura. Kakunoshin Ohta, for his part, will join Team UPGarage for his GT300 debut, alongside veteran driver Takashi Kobayashi.
