Jan Kopecky (Skoda) takes the scratch in the 17,4km of Apricale completed in 12'39"6. The Czech takes nine tenths from the first leader Giandomenico Basso (Ford) and 3”7 from Paolo Andreucci (Peugeot ) who finished behind Juho Hänninen (Skoda) and Alessandro Perico (Peugeot). Stefano Albertini (Peugeot) ranks ten seconds off the scratch. Craig Breen (Peugeot) is 14”4 behind while Pierre Campana (Peugeot) fails at 17 seconds. Harry Hunt (Peugeot) loses almost four minutes following a puncture.
Giandomencio Basso remains leader with 5”7 ahead of Jan Kopecky, the Czech now ahead of Paolo Andreucci by 1”3. Alessandro Perico remains fourth, four seconds off the provisional podium and is only a tenth ahead of Juho Hänninen. Stefano Albertini, sixth, is five seconds ahead of Craig Breen and 14 seconds ahead of Pierre Campana.
