Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) signs the 90th pole position of his career by dominating qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Briton, in 1'13″447, is 0″107 ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas, the two W11s operating on another planet facing the competition.
The second row will be shared between the two Racing Point RP20s of Lance Stroll and Sergio Pérez which precede the two Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. Followed by Max Verstappen (Red Bull), the two McLarens of Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz, and the AlphaTauri of Pierre Gasly, who has encountered an engine problem since the start of this session.
7th place on the grid for Max Verstappen, who will start behind the two Ferraris.

Hamilton improved to 1'13″447, 0″477 better than Bottas.
Bottas improves his first part but cannot beat Hamilton's time. Will the last two sectors smile on the Finn?
Pérez moves up to 4th position, securing for the moment a 100% Racing Point second row.
1'14″817 for Leclerc who cannot beat his teammate Vettel.
1'14″774 for Vettel who moved up to 4th provisional position.

New sets of tires for this second burst of flying laps. But Hamilton seems on a different tempo in this qualification.
Behind the two Mercedes, Stroll, Verstappen, Norris, Sainz, Vettel, Leclerc follow in the standings. Pérez saw his time canceled after exceeding the limits of the track at turn 4.
1’14″671 for Stroll. Vettel fails by six tenths. Hamilton set a lap in 1'13"613, when Bottas failed by more than three tenths.
Stroll (Racing Point) is first in a flying lap. But it was Hamilton (Mercedes) who took the best first partial.

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) dominated Q2 of these qualifications for the Hungarian Grand Prix, achieving their times on medium tires, just like the Racing Points of Sergio Pérez and Lance Stroll.
Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), despite a Power Unit problem, finished 10th and qualified for Q3.
Disappointment at Red Bull, since Alex Albon was eliminated in this Q2 (13th), proclaiming on his radio that he should not be released into traffic. Daniel Ricciardo (Renault), George Russell (Williams), Esteban Ocon (Renault) and Nicholas Latifi (Williams) are also eliminated.
