It's not good to be a poleman in Formula Regional Europe at Imola this weekend. After Oliver Rasmussen (Prema) who was not even able to honor his pole position due to a gearbox problem in Race 1, it was his teammate Arthur Leclerc (Prema) who was unlucky in Race 2.
The Monegasque, author of a perfect start from the leading position, saw his car suddenly slow down to the point of having to give up after just two laps. A fact of racing all the more frustrating as he was in the lead and was preparing to widen his lead at the top of the championship.
Third in Race 2, Gianluca Petecof (Prema) takes the 15 points that go with it and therefore has an eight-point lead over his teammate at the top of the championship, four races from the end.
The Monegasque's misadventure also benefited Patrik Pasma (KIC Motorsport), who took control of the race and who was able to resist the winner of the day before, the Guatemalan Ian Rodriguez (DR Formula), to achieve his third success of the season after his double victory at Monza in mid-October.
Third on the starting line, Pierre-Louis Chovet (Van Amersfoort) lost two places at the start, overtaken by Ian Rodriguez and Gianluca Petecof (Prema), then another in the race after overtaking his teammate Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort) . He finished 5th.
