Towards a busy 2023 for Shane van Gisbergen?

The 2022 season ended only a fortnight ago, Shane van Gisbergen has already got into 2023 mode. While waiting for New Year's Eve on December 31 at midnight, "Gisby" will be on his land to make his debut in Sprint Car, a New Zealand championship taking place on dirt on Wednesday 28 at Baypark Speedway.

« I will continue to ride during the summer (New Zealand is located in the southern hemisphere), he confides. I have to make sure I stay fresh. Next year we will only have 12 meetings. I need to be in a car as much as possible to stay in shape."

Shane van Gisbergen soon in Europe?

As in 2022, the Kiwi's 2023 campaign should have a European touch, this time perhaps a little more. After a first participation in 24 Hours of Le Mans last year with Riley Motorsports in GTE Pro, Shane van Gisbergen plans to do it again for the centenary edition next June (10-11). Furthermore, a return to Sarthe would not impact his Supercars season since the Darwin round is scheduled for the following week.

In addition to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, SvG would also be tempted by a presence at another double round, that of the Nürburgring (May 18-21) even if this would take place at the same time as the Tasmania meeting. It would be first for him even if he will have to make a choice between the two disciplines.
