It's a beautiful story that rewards a long-term fight and remarkable strength of character.

Five years after the terrible accidentIndyCar at Pocono which left him paralyzed from the lower limbs, Robert Wickens won the TCR category of theIMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, one of the IMSA championships.

Returning to competition at the start of 2022, already with Bryan Herta Autosport, Wickens finished in a superb 6th place for his first full post-accident season.

At the wheel of the Hyundai Elantra N TCR n°33, a car specially adapted for the former Formula champion Renault 3.5 (2011), Wickens and teammate Harry Gottsacker finished 4th at Road Atlanta, a result good enough to take the crown ahead of Mason Filippi and Mark Wilkins.

The success was total since Hyundai also won among the Manufacturers, while Bryan Herta Autosport won the Teams title.

« It's very rewarding and the culmination of a lot of hard work, of course in my recovery, but also on the part of the Bryan Herta Autosport team, said Robert Wickens. With Harry (Gottsacker. Editor’s note) and the team, we won the title thanks to our consistency. Many thanks to Hyundai and everyone for their support ».
