The wait is long. These nine minutes seem like an eternity, these twenty kilometers of endless climb. Up there, on the asphalt winding around the majestic Pikes Peak, Raphaël Astier dances with his Alpine A110, the most extreme version of the French Berlinette ever produced. Below, at the starting point, the rest of the French clan waits in front of the single timing screen. The sectors fall one by one, stress mounts, impatience grows, breathing quickens. Suddenly, an explosion of joy. The table displays the time: 9'17''412.
