The season of DTM finished, Sophia Floersch did not wait for the double header from Bahrain in WEC to put on the gloves again. The young German is indeed making her return in ELMS this weekend for the sixth and final round of the season, with the local team Algarve Pro Racing. “I’m happy to come back to ELMS, confides the 20-year-old pilot. The track is really cool and the weather is awesome. It's a difficult circuit with a lot of traffic, but that always makes the race interesting. I like it I must say. »

A track on which she took ninth place in June at the 8 Hours of Portimão in WEC with her teammates Tatiana Calderón and Beitske Visser. At the 6 Hours of Bahrain (Saturday November 30), Floersch and Visser will have to do without the Colombian, retained by the Super Formula final at Suzuka, at the wheel of the Oreca 07 – Gibson number 1 of Richard Mille Racing Team. “ There were already only two of us at the 6 Hours of Monza with Tatiana (Beitske Visser was lined up in the W Series at Silverstone. Editor’s note), recalls the German. Bahrain is a totally different track than Monza, we will see what pace we get. We will have to be patient and we will also need a bit of luck, but we will try to do our best. »

“A podium would be incredible”

With the 8 Hours of Bahrain (Saturday November 6), the German is preparing to complete a substantial menu of three races in as many weekends: “It's great to have three race weekends in a row and I enjoy it, but it also means a lot of physical work, video sessions and meetings with the engineers to prepare as well as possible for each race. » By multiplying the events, the young woman hopes to open doors for the 2022 season, for which nothing has yet been decided.

In the meantime, Floersch is hoping for a good result this weekend at the 4 Hours of Portimão: “I think we have a very good pace going into qualifying, we will see where we are positioned. The race will be long and a lot can happen. Our pace is really good honestly and a podium would be incredible. »
