It was hot at the front of the 4 Hours of Spa during the second hour of the race. Launched in pursuit of an astonishing Fabio Scherer, Nicolas lapierre clashed with the Swiss from Inter Europol Competition for first place overall. Starting last on the grid, the Swiss sold his skin a little too dearly by sending the Frenchman from COOL Racing into the gravel. It took more to discourage the Habs, who came back to take the lead.
Defending Phil Hanson after a Full Course Yellow, Lapierre however made a mistake during the first braking, letting the United Autosports driver slip into the lead. Disaster for COOL Racing since the #37 Oreca had to return to the pits. David Heinemeier-Hansson takes second place for Inter Europol Competition. Mathias Beche (TDS Racing x Vaillante) and Juan Manuel Correa (Prema) are fighting for third place.
