Asian Le Mans Series – Matsuda places KCMG on pole at Sepang

The OAK Racing team Total saw its great series of pole positions in Asian this morning Le Mans Series ends. Indeed, for the first time this season, pole position went to one of the Sarthoise team's rivals. A few moments ago, the Japanese Tsugio Matsuda set the best time in qualifying for the 3 Hours of Sepang, the fourth and final round of the season. At the wheel of his KCMG team Morgan-Nissan, the double winner of Formula Nippon (in 2007 and 2008) completed a lap of the Malaysian track in 1'57"579, relegating his closest pursuer to 0"285, namely the Chinese Ho-Pin Tung, who is driving the Morgan-Nissan of the OAK Racing team Total. The top three is completed by Richard Bradley (Oreca 03-Nissan n°27 of Craft Racing), who is 0 behind the reference time.

KCMG takes advantage of this additional point gained to increase its lead in the championship to 5 points over the OAK Racing team Total. David Winslow does the same in the Drivers' Championship, five points ahead of David Cheng.

Fourth, the Ferrari 458 Italia Clearwater Racing of Toni Vilander-Weng Sun Mok set the best time in the GTC, the last named being credited with a time of 2'05"572. He is ahead of both Aston Martin Craft Racing V12 Vantage. In 10th place, best time in GTE, we find the #458 Ferrari 70 Italia of Akira Iida-Naoki Yokomizo-Shogo Mitsuyama. Finally, in GTE Am, the #69 Lamborghini Gallardo fielded by Team Primemantle Aylezo and entrusted to Giorgio Sanna, Zen Low and Dilantha Malagamuwa stood out.

The start of the 3 Hours of Sepang, the closing round of the Asian Le Mans Series, will be given tomorrow at 8 a.m. French time.
