ELMS 2023: Gimmi Bruni in Pro/Am at Proton Competition

Proton unveils its line-up for the 2023 ELMS in Pro-Am aboard the team's first LM P2 cars. At the wheel, Gimmi Bruni will be accompanied by Giorgio Roda and Jonas Ried.

ELMS 2023: Gimmi Bruni in Pro/Am at Proton Competition

The European Le Mans Series discovers the first crew of the Pro/Am championship in the LM P2 category, that of Proton Competition. And the nominees are: Jonas Ried, Giorgio Roda and Gimmi Bruni.

The latter already knows the team, since he officiates alongside the German team at the 24 Hours of Daytona: “ I am very happy to continue my adventure in prototypes with Proton », declares the Italian driver, endurance champion in 2013 and 2014. And adds: “ I am also very happy to participate in the European Le Mans Series with Jonas and Giorgio in the Pro/AM category aboard the LM P2. »

His compatriot Giorgio Roda is also a regular with the team based in Ummendorf (Germany), crowned 2018 European Le Mans Series LMGTE champion with it. Two experienced drivers who will know how to carry Proton for its first steps in the category: “ The fact that the European Le Mans Series is the first appearance of a Proton Competition LM P2 motivates me enormously., declares the Italian winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in GTE Am (2018). This is a new project for both me and the team, and an exciting challenge. I'm sure we can be well placed in the championship! »

At their side, Jonas Ried. A first for the driver behind the wheel of a prototype. The 18-year-old German and son of the team boss started with the car, participating in the F4 championships of Italy, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. “ Driving an LM P2 with Proton Competition in 2023 is a dream come true, he says. I'm really looking forward to this new experience and sharing the car with Gimmi and Giorgio. I am sure we will have a great season together. » He will also be present in the Asian Le Mans Series, within the Rinaldi Racing team.
