ELMS – Alpine loses his pole to Jota Sport

The starting grid for the 3 Hours of Red Bull Ring is evolving following several penalties imposed at the end of qualifying. Nelson Panciatici saw all his times deleted for not having respected the yellow flags during his last flying lap. His teammate Pierre Ragues will have to start in eighth and last position in the LMP2 class. The #11 Jota Sport Zytek Z31-SN Nissan driven by Oliver Turvey thus regains first place on the grid, allowing the Briton to secure his third consecutive pole in as many events contested this year. The British LMP2 will therefore start in front of the Murphy Prototypes Oreca 03 led by Brendon Hartley and Jonathan Hirschi and the Oreca 03 of Thiriet by TDS Racing driven by Pierre Thiriet and Mathias Beche.

Maurizio Mediani, driver of the SMP Racing Oreca 03 who is making his LMP2 debut, saw his three best times deleted for not having respected the track limits. The Italian having achieved the last time in the category, the n°37 remains on the fourth row and even gains a place following Signatech's penalty-Alpine.

Nicky Catsburg finds himself on LMPC pole at the wheel of the Algarve Pro Racing Team FLM 09 following penalties from Nicolas Verdonck and Paul Loup-Chatin who also lost their three best times for not respecting the track limits. Gunnar Jeannette, pilot of the Ferrari n°53 of Ram Racing, and Peter Kox, the boss driver of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 GT3 of the eponymous team, suffered the same sanction.
