ELMS / Asian LMS – Ginetta-Juno targets LM P3

In July, the ACO unveiled the new LM P3 category which will come into force in 2015 in European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series. The category already seems to attract attention, since Lawrence Tomlinson, boss of the Ginetta brand, has just confirmed the purchase of the Juno brand, and wishes to join the field with a Ginetta-Juno. In accordance with the rules laid down for the LM P3, the closed prototype will feature a V8 engine of around 420 hp, which will be common to all chassis, and developed by Oreca.

To carry out the project, it was Ewan Baldry, founder of Juno and former Williams F1, who will take the position of Technical Director of the new formation, which aims to race in Europe and Asia. “Ginetta has gone from being a small manufacturer to becoming a respected player in motorsport, Baldry explains. Juno has succeeded in prototype sports and we are moving up a notch now. We are confident that the Ginetta-Juno LM P3 will be recognized for its qualities. It will also be a great option for drivers who will be able to progress with Ginetta. »

For his part, Lawrence Tomlinson is already aiming for the double round of the Sarthe clock, which he won in GT2 in 2006 with a Panoz Esperante. “Le Mans always has a special place for me, and I want to achieve this goal of putting a Ginetta-Juno on the grid.ELMS and the Asian LMS, before later aiming for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Ginetta. There is clearly a market for affordable prototypes and I have no doubt about the success of this partnership. »

The Ginetta-Juno is currently in the development phase, with encouraging first simulation results.
