ELMS – Chatin places IDEC Sport on pole at the 4 Hours of Castellet

IDEC Sport, M Racing-YMR and Proton Competition took pole position for the opening round of the European Le Mans Series, respectively in LM P2, LM P3 and GTE.

ELMS – Chatin places IDEC Sport on pole for the 4 Hours of Castellet

Interrupted by a red flag following the stop on the track of the No. 217 United Autosports Ligier JS P22, qualifying for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, opening round of the European Le Mans Series, saw Paul-Loup Chatin offer IDEC Sport its first pole position in the European Le Mans Series, thanks to a lap completed in 1'41"194. At the wheel of the 07 n°28 which he shares with Paul Lafargue and the outgoing champion Memo Rojas, the Frenchman was ahead of Matthieu Vaxivière by 0, who defends the interests of TDS Racing alongside François Perrodo and Loïc duval. This second consecutive pole position for Michelin after that signed at the 4 Hours of the Algarve last October proves the renewed form of Bibendum LM P2.

The first three lines of the starting grid will be monopolized by Oreca, followed by the 07 of DragonSpeed (+0 »7), Racing Engineering (+0 »9), Duqueine Engineering (+0 »9) and APR-Rebellion Racing ( +1 »0).

The first Ligier JS P217, namely the n°23 of the Panis-Barthez Compétition led by Will Stevens, Julien Canal and Timothé Buret, is seventh, 1”005 behind the reference mark. It is ahead of Signatech Alpine and the SMP Racing Dallara P217 driven by Viktor Shaytar, Matevos Isaakyan and Egor Orudzhev.

The best lap, in LM P3, goes to David Droux, at the wheel of the No. 30 M Racing-YMR Norma M19, in 1'51"930. The teammate of Luca Légeret and Nicolas Ferrer relegated the Ligier JS P3 n°15 of RLR MSport led by Job van Uitert-Robert Garofall-John Farano to 0”045 and the Norma M30 n°17 fielded by Ultimate for Mathieu Lahaye- Jean Baptiste Lahaye-François Hériau.

By completing a lap in 1'53"377, Matteo Caroli gave the No. 911 Proton Competition 88 RSR pole position in GTE Am. The driver Porsche Junior, who shares the wheel with Gianluca and Giorgio Roda, beat another car bearing the Zuffenhausen brand crest, namely that of Gulf Racing entrusted for the occasion to Benjamin Barker, who teams up with Michael Wainwright and Alex Davison . Miguel Molina, for his part, placed the Ferrari 488 GTE No. 66 from JMW Motorsport in third place.
