ELMS – The Balance of Performance revised for the Red Bull Ring

The Balance of Performance has been revised for the third event of the season.ELMS played this weekend at Red Bull Ring to Spielberg. After two victories of the Ferrari 458 Italia in GTE, the diameter of the two air intake flanges of the Italians will be reduced by 1,3mm while the Aston Martin Vantage et les Porsche 911 GT3 RSR verront leurs performances inchangées. Les F458 GT3 seront également rappelées à l’ordre en GTC en perdant 2mm sur le diamètre de leur bride d’admission, tandis que la pression du turbo des McLaren MP4-12C will be fixed. On the other hand, the Audi R8 LMS ultra will benefit from a diameter enlarged by 3mm. The BMW Z4s will gain 40kg and the Porsche 911 GT3R 30kg.

Vincent Beaumesnil, the ACO Sports Director, assures that these decisions were necessary in order to ensure a fair level on the grid. “We base our study on times. We study lap times, we take into consideration the level of driving, the weather conditions as well as the consistency of the car... Our objective is to offer everyone the opportunity to make the most of the potential of their car, but at the same time In the end it is the team and the driver who do the work... We are adding 40 kg to all GT3s, in order to maintain a gap with the LMGTEs, except for a few which do not need it. Then we make decisions based on the information we collect after each race weekend: that’s a new approach. »
