ELMS – GT Academy places Faisca with Greaves in Estoril

After Lucas Ordonez, Jann Mardenborough and Mark Shulzhitskiy, it is the turn of Miguel Faisca to take his first steps in LMP2 by taking the wheel of the Greaves Motorsport Zytek Z11SN-Nissan for the 4 Hours of Estoril where he will drive at home alongside the American Matthew McMurry. The 25-year-old Portuguese is rewarded for winning the Nissan GT Academy Europe last year. “As usual, we will follow his performances closely because it is important for us to build cutting-edge drivers for our competition activities”, said Nismo director Darren Cox. “Lucas Ordonez proved to everyone that he had achieved it by joining Super GT this year (4th place in the GT 300 in a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 from NDDP Racing), let's see what the new generation can do. »

Miguel Faisca made his competitive debut this year by participating in the Blancpain Pro-Am category Endurance Series with the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN with which he finished 12th in the Drivers' standings. “I didn't think I would be racing in LMP2 just one year after winning the GT Academy. Doing it at home is fantastic. This will be my first time riding in Portugal and I can't wait to see how many spectators will come. Interest in hard circuit racing waned a bit when the F1 left Estoril (in 1996), but I see an increase in recent years. I don't feel any greater pressure to race at home but I am aware that the move to LMP2 is an important step. It is essential for me to avoid problems and stay focused to line up competitive rounds. »

The Endurance rookie will not be the only member of the Nissan GT Academy to make the trip since Mark Shulzhitskiy will drive the second Zyek from the British team with Luciano Bacheta.
