ELMS – Marc VDS enters GTE with Andy Priaulx

Andy Priaulx will continue to defend the interests of BMW by joining Marc VDS Racing which will enter a Z4 in the GTE category of theELMS in 2015. After representing the colors of the Bavarian brand in DTM (with Team RMG) and in USC (with Team RLL), the three-time WTCC world champion will compete in theEndurance European where the Belgian team has already distinguished itself by winning the GTC with Bas Leinders, Markus Paltalla and Henry Hassid during the final contested last October in Estoril (Portugal).

The rest of the crew has not been revealed, but the regulations will require Marc VDS Racing to enter a silver pilot and a bronze pilot alongside Andy Priaulx which has Platinum status. “I hope we can win this Championship”, commented the 40-year-old Briton. “I love racing in GT, there is never an easy stint. I also enjoy the long-distance events: the four-hour duration offers enough time to share the wheel with other drivers. We will also go to magnificent circuits that I know very well. »

The management of Marc VDS Racing is delighted to have been able to set up this program. With the presence of Andy Priaulx, the Belgian team should be a serious contender for victory. “This is one of the most exciting programs for our team”, confirmed Bas Leinders, Team Principal of Marc VDS Racing. “Racing in GTE is a new challenge but we are delighted with it. The car looks like the GT3 version but it's actually a completely different beast. We have an asset in Andy Priaulx, I have known him since my first competitions in Great Britain and I know how competitive he is. He knows this car well having driven it last year, that is very important. With the level of the ELMS, the competition will not be easy. »
