The first free practice session for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, the opening round of the European, began in fine rain but sufficient to wet the track copiously. Le Mans Series. But the tarmac dried up over the laps and it was finally Nicolas lapierre, driving the #07 DragonSpeed Oreca 21, who finished with the best time. The Frenchman, who shares the wheel with Ben Hanley and Henrik Hedman, completed a lap in 1'48"580, relegating to 2"0 and 2"01, the Oreca 07 n°33 and 39, respectively fielded by TDS Racing and Graff.

The top five is completed by another Oreca 07, namely No. 29 from Duqueine Engineering from Jamin-Panciatici-Ragues, and the car fielded by United Autosports for Bruno Senna and Phil Hanson, best representative of the Ligier JS P217 clan. Panis-Barthez Compétition, IDEC Sport and Racing Engineering follow, while the first Dallara P217, operated by AVF by Adrian Valles is ninth.
However, the times should be analyzed with caution due to the weather conditions.
The best GTE is the Porsche 911 RSR n°88 from Proton competition driven by Cairoli-Roda-Roda. In LM P3, it is the Norma M30 n°17 (Ultimate) of Mr. Lahaye-J.-B. Lahaye-Hériau who got the best of the competition.
The second free practice session, reserved for Bronze drivers, will begin at 16:35 p.m.
