At the end of the 2017 campaign in ELMS, the structure IDEC Sport Racing had trusted Paul-Loup Chatin for the two rounds at Spa in Belgium and the Portuguese final in Portimão. For 2018, the former ELMS champion will, however, compete for a full season with the team of sporting director Nicolas Minassian.
The 26-year-old driver is continuing his career on the continental scene after competing in the 2016 season under the Panis-Barthez Compétition colors. He will team up with Paul Lafargue on one of the two Ligier JS P217 IDEC Sport Racing, which is also aiming for a presence at the next 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 16-17).
“Our collaboration with Patrice Lafargue is based on human relationships, I will do everything possible to fulfill my missions for this season, explains Chatin. It’s a great opportunity to be part of this high-level team which manages to maintain a warm, family atmosphere.
In addition, the arrival of Nicolas Minassian as Sports Director fully confirms the ambitions and dynamism of this team. I am convinced that his contribution, combined with the work carried out by Patrice Lafargue's team in recent years, will make an explosive mixture. »
Alongside Paul and Patrice Lafargue, IDEC Sport Racing also fielded David Zollinger and Olivier Pla in 2017.
